| Today's word or phrase of the day is:
"Poppycock!"
This word is used to indicate that you do not believe/agree with what another gentleman has said.
8/2
"Bad form!"
This phrase is used to politely express your disapproval of something, in a way that also implies the person you're talking to is a failure as a human being.
8/1:
"Woman of questionable morals"
Means "prostitute."
Used in a sentence: "While your argument is assuredly truthful and coherent, it does not change the fact that your mother is a woman of questionable morals who has often offered passers-by a night of carnal pleasures in exchange for an astonishingly low fee."
7/31:
"Old bean"
Used to acknowledge an old acquaintance, but only one whose social stature is approximately equal to yours. Addressing a commoner as "old bean" simply will not do.
7/30:
"I say!"
Used to express astonishment while simultaneously maintaining one's composure.

You laughable fellow, you appear to be labouring under the assumption that I am sharing the common folk's definition of slang! Not so! Rather, I am endorsing a manner of speaking for those among the upper class, that we may communicate without stooping to the level of the common person! I say! You talk rather like an unlearned manual labourer, do you not? I fear I may have to see you escorted off the premises should you continue with this frightfully vulgar manner of typing. |
